And ye shall know that I [am] in the midst of Israel, and [that] I [am] the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
Joel 2:27-32

But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:16-21

And I saw an angel come down from Heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

And he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years should be fulfilled; and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them. And I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the witness of Jesus and for the Word of God, and who had not worshiped the beast, nor his image, nor had received his mark upon their foreheads or on their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations to the four quarters of the earth -- Gog and Magog -- to gather them together for battle, thenumber of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went out over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil who had deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And I saw a great white throne and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

References from Genesis to Revelation

Revelation, the last book of the bible, is one that many people have difficulty understanding. The Book of Revelation was written by John the Apostle around 70 A.D., many years after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was during a time of severe persecution of the church when John was put in exile on an island called Patmos. It was there on this island that God revealed to him and showed him visions of the future and the end of days.

This book is so important that God pronounced a blessing on those who read the Book of Revelation, hear the words of the prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein. For God said "The time is at hand" (Revelation 1:3). The prophecies in Revelation were predicted in many old testament books and I will list those prophecies with the scriptures. The word "Revelation" itself means unveiling or disclosure. It is a type of literature known as apocalyptic. Revelation 1:7,

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

In Daniel 7:13 in his vision he saw Christ coming in the clouds of heaven, a vision God gave him concerning the end time. The Book of Daniel was written about 530 B.C. hundreds of years before John the Apostle wrote the revelation.

"I was watching in the night visions, And behold, [One] like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Daniel 7:13

This verse refers to the second coming of Christ which is after the rapture of the church and after the 7-year tribulation but just before the thousand year millennial reign begins. That's when Christ will return and set up His throne in Jerusalem. Also, as referred to in Zechariah 12:10 when God is telling His people that someday they will look upon Him whom they have pierced and mourn. The death and resurrection of Christ had not yet taken place but was predicted hundreds of years before. There are many references in the old testament of Christ coming to the earth. Not only as a baby being born to a virgin, crucified, resurrection and ascending back to heaven but also when Christ comes the second time back to the earth and sets up His Kingdom. At His second coming He will come as King of Kings. The first time He came as a baby.

Immediately after the rapture (the catching away of the church) when the Lord Himself descends from heaven with a shout with a voice of the archangel and with the trump of God, we shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. This is called "the catching away of the bride of Christ." All those who have placed their faith in Him. Christ has not actually stepped foot on the earth at this time until the end of the 7-year tribulation period.

Now that the church, all believers, have been taken to heaven the antichrist appears on the scene and the 7-years of tribulation begin. During this period God will open the seals which are plagues that come upon the earth (Revelation 6) which are famine, death, destruction, earthquakes, cosmic disasters, the sun turns black, the moon turns red, stars fall from the sky... It will be so bad that people will hide themselves in dens and rocks of the mountains. For the great day of His wrath has come (Revelation 6:17).

The following are the seven seals (Revelation 6 - Revelation 8:1-6):

1. The ruler of the new world order
The antichrist comes on the scene to conquer the whole world.

2. Conflict on the earth
Peace will be taken from the earth so that people will kill one another.

3. Famine
A scarcity of food, great depression. It will take a week's wages just for one loaf of bread.

4. Widespread death on earth
Death from killings, hunger, and from the beasts of the earth.

5. The cry of the martyers
Those who have been slain for the Word of God and for the testimony they held.

6. Cosmic disturbances
Earthquakes, the sun becomes black as sackcloth of hair, the moon becomes as blood, and stars fall from heaven, and the sky recedes as a scroll. Kings of the earth, rich men, commanders, mighty men, slaves, and every free man all hide themselves in caves, rocks, and mountains. For the great day of His wrath has come and who is able to stand?

7. This is a prelude of the seven trumpets to come
God gave seven angels to prepare themselves to sound the seven trumpets (Revelation 8 - Revelation 11).

  • Vegetation struck
One third of all the trees and green grass was burned up.

  • The seas struck
A great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea and one third of all the seas became blood. One third of all the creatures in the sea all died. One third of all the ships were destroyed.

  • The water was struck
All the waters became bitter, they became as wormwood.

  • The heaven was struck
One third of the sun, moon and the stars were darkened, they did not shine. One third of the day did not shine and became as night.

  • Locusts from the bottomless pit
The fifth angel opened the bottomless pit and smoke arose upon the earth and darkened the air. Then locusts came up and covered the earth. The locusts were given power like scorpions to sting and kill all those who did not have the seal of God on their forehead. The people of the earth were tormented for five months. They will desire to die but death will flee from them. The locusts are demonically controlled.

  • The angels from the River Euphrates
At the great River Euphrates four angels were released to kill one third of all mankind. Here the armies of the world meet, two hundred million. Some have red uniforms, some blue, and others yellow.

  • This is the kingdom proclaimed
When this trumphet sounded there were voices in heaven saying "The kingdom's of this world have become the kingdom's of our Lord and of His Christ and He shall reign forever and ever" (Revelation 11:15)
